Since his arrest in early July over a street scuffle in Stockholm, the ‘Fashion Killa’ hitmaker has been kept behind bars because he is considered to be a flight risk and forced to cancel 12 shows.
AceShowbiz -The Swedish government could be forced to reimburse millions of dollars to A$AP Rocky if he is found “not guilty”.
The “Fashion Killa” hitmaker is currently behind bars in Stockholm, Sweden, as authorities investigate a street scuffle he was involved in late last month (June 2019). But according to TMZ.com, a clause in Swedish law stipulates if someone is charged with a crime and is found not guilty, the country “may” be forced to pay the accused all monies lost as a result of incarceration and the trial.
The rap star was arrested on 2 July and is currently serving a third week at the Kronoberg Detention Centre, as he and two associates wait for a decision to be made on an indictment on Thursday (July 25).
As a result Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, has been forced to cancel 12 shows, and is booked for seven more through the month of September. And with the star rumoured to charge between $80,000 (£64,338) and $120,000 (£96,508) per appearance, officials in Sweden could end up paying millions of dollars, depending on how long a potential trial goes on for.
On Monday the 30-year-old was announced as one of the headline acts at October’s Rolling Loud NYC hip-hop festival.
The New York City edition of the concert will take place this October at Citi Field, Queens.
It is expected he will be formally charged with aggravated assault later this week, after investigations against his harasser were dropped on Monday, and his release from jail before proceedings are over is unlikely because he is considered to be a flight risk.
