Fans of singer Billie Eilish are rallying around the star, after some ‘creepy’ fans began objectifying an image of her in a tank top.
This is why we can’t have nice things.
It’s just really disappointing, seeing as the 17-year-old (yes, she’s a teenager) revealed the reason she wears baggy clothing is so people DON’T objectify her.
The woman cannot win.
The one day she is seen in a tank (still with a baggy jacket, may we add) one fan thought it would be so totally cute to suggest Billie was ‘thick’.
Spoiler alert, it’s not cute. And for someone who actively asks to not be spoken about in this way, it never was. Never will be.
Perhaps it’s of no surprise then that her loyal followers have slammed the initial commenter who has been thrust to whence they came.
One fan slammed the poster, as they wrote online: ‘Billie Eilish literally said she wears baggy clothes so she doesn’t get sexualised and the minute she shows some skin y’all sexualise her? Gross.’
The photo went viral over the weekend and was called out by what seemed like a countless stream of Billie’s fans who harped back to her recent interview with Calvin Klein.
‘That’s why I wear baggy clothes,’ she said in the ad. ‘Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath.
‘Nobody can be like, “she’s slim-thick,” “she’s not slim-thick,” “she’s got a flat ass,” “she’s got a fat ass.”
‘No one can say any of that because they don’t know.’
The original poster has tried to defend themselves as they took to the comments section with some redundant arguments.
‘Apparently I’m not allowed to think she’s attractive until few months from now lol..’ they wrote.
‘This girl literally said “bruises on both my knees for you” , “might seduce your dad” BUT I’M ONE WHO’S SEXUALIZING HER??? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.’
But it just wasn’t working out for them, as the post gained more traction online and more vitriol from followers.
‘Billie Eilish: I wear baggy clothes because I don’t want people sexualizing me & looking at my body like that,’ one wrote.
‘Billie Eilish: *wears fitted shirt ONCE*
‘Every sex-crazed d**chebag on twitter that doesn’t know how to f*cking respect women: Billie Eilish THICCCCC
‘Y’all, f*ck off’.
It comes after Billie was forced to tell her fans not to grope her boobs, after one fan got a little too frisky at a meet and greet in Australia earlier this year.
‘Pls don’t grab my boobs in the meet and greet,’ she wrote on social media.
‘Keep playing the shit cool but it is very much not.’
The Bad Guy hitmaker added: ‘I think what happened last night was just an accident so I acted like I didn’t notice cuz I didn’t wanna make her feel bad if she didn’t mean to do it.
‘But if that s**t was [for real] I’m gone.’
The number one singer then asked her fans not to ‘harass’ the girl in question, as she think she meant nothing by it.
‘Please don’t harass the girl. It was just an accident and not that big a deal. She was very very sweet,’ the icon said. ‘I was just saying in general about certain things that I don’t feel comfortable with. It’s not a big deal.’
