Cardi B promises that her fans will connect with her on a deeper level for her second studio album.
Cardi’s fans have awaited the debut of her next album over the past few years. The album will be a follow-up to Cardi’s first album, Invasion of Privacy, released in 2018.
Although Cardi is known for her explicit lyrics, she said she wants her next project to reflect multiple areas in her life. She described her next body of work as being similar to Beyoncé’s authenticity with her album, Lemonade. The songstress debuted Lemonade in 2016.
Beyoncé didn’t feel snubbed by the Grammys for ‘Lemonade’
In April 2016, Beyoncé shocked her fans by releasing a visual album for Lemonade. The short film premiered on HBO and highlighted elements of Beyoncé’s personal and political life. Beyoncé sheds light on issues like the deaths of unarmed Black men like Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown and Black women’s freedom, per Vox. Beyoncé also opened up about her relationship with her husband, Jay-Z. She used her music to show how the couple found their way back to each other after a period of infidelity on Jay’s end.

Lemonade earned Beyoncé a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards. The award ultimately went to Adele, which enraged many of Beyoncé’s fans. Beyoncé admitted to Elle in her January 2020 cover story that, although her fans were disappointed about the loss, she wasn’t concerned about the loss. After she had several miscarriages before having her daughter, Blue Ivy, she realized she had to appreciate herself rather than focusing on earning accolades like a Grammy.
“I had Blue, and the quest for my purpose became so much deeper,” Beyoncé shared. “I died and was reborn in my relationship, and the quest for self became even stronger. It’s difficult for me to go backwards. Being ‘number one’ was no longer my priority. My true win is creating art and a legacy that will live far beyond me. That’s fulfilling.”
Cardi B said her second album would have ‘Lemonade’ moments
In August 2020, Cardi shared what her fans can expect to hear on her second album with Elle. She said that while she prefers to produce songs for her audience to feel free and confident in themselves, she wants to express herself more and give her supporters a look into some of her personal life. She said she would have songs about her marriage to rapper Offset.

“My music is always going to make a woman feel like a bad b*tch. When you make a woman feel like she’s the baddest b*tch in the room, to me, that’s female empowerment,” Cardi said. “But this album is going to be really different. Of course, it’s going to have my Lemonade moments, my personal relationship moments.”
Cardi B and Beyoncé collaborated on a song fans will never hear
Cardi soared to stardom in 2017 after the success of her song, “Bodak Yellow.” Since then, she’s collaborated with multiple artists like Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, and Megan Thee Stallion. However, her fans have been waiting to hear the New York native on a song with Beyoncé. Although Beyoncé is a fan of Cardi’s, they haven’t been able to debut a song together as of yet.

In May 2020, producer J White Did It confirmed that Cardi and Beyoncé worked together on a track in 2017. He said the song never surfaced because the news surrounding the song was leaked without Beyoncé or Cardi’s approval, per HotNewHipHop.
“I was just as giddy as everybody else. I was sitting there just waiting, looking on the internet then it leaked,” J White said. “Bro, three years ago I had a Beyoncé play with Cardi, and that kinda went sour because it went viral that they was doing a song together and that cut out. And this time the song leaked before the song came out… But listen, that song came out when, and I say I sat like this,” he continued, sinking his shoulders and giving a disappointed look. “For like, 10 minutes.”
