Bath… the final frontier.

TV critic Toby Earle took to Twitter to share pictures of the show this morning, when Professor Carole Mundell appeared as a guest from the University of Bath.

Behind her was a background of stars, which caused the Twitter user to call out the funny moment.

He captioned the post: “Bath’s changed a bit.”

In response, Dan hastily replied in view of his 743,700 followers: “Bath… the final frontier #BBCBreakfast.”

Many took to the comments to talk about the funny background on the breakfast show for the Bath-based professor.

Jonnybunt said: “Probably got one of those sparkly bath bombs for Christmas.”

AdamLeePalmer added: “Spock has let himself go.”

Benjieguy commented: “Live and unplugged in Bath.”

Dan previously took to Twitter to complain about his “lonesome” appearance on BBC Breakfast, after his regular companion, Sally Nugent, was not on the show on Monday.

Since then, he has been quick to praise his new co-star Luxmy Gopal, who joined him on the show yesterday.

The presenter seemed overjoyed to have a “friend” for yesterday’s episode.

He penned: “I’ve got a friend this morning.

“Back on #BBCBreakfast with @luxmy_g.

“We’re here until 915 so feel free to grab a brew / turkey sandwich and join in.”

Dan also shared a photo of himself and Luxmy sitting together in the studio with Christmas trees decorating the background.

Fans were quick to gush over Luxmy’s stint on the red sofa, with Twitter user Charlotteukcity writing: “What a treat this morning has been Luxmy!

“You totally fit being a morning Breakfast presenter. A total natural.”

Dan spotted the comment and wholeheartedly agreed, replying: “She’s great isn’t she? Good morning.”

The fan then responded: “Yes, she’s always been great! So happy that more people will be able to see that for themselves, with Luxmy being on Breakfast.”

BBC Breakfast is on everyday from 6am to 9am every morning on BBC One.
