In case you forgot, Tarzan’s Treehouse is located in Adventureland, between the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Indiana Jones Adventure entrances.
The site reports that the attraction has been closed since September 2021, and photos on Mice Chat show that the attraction has been covered in construction scrims since then. Currently on the Disneyland website, it shows that it is closed for refurbishment.
The Tarzan’s Treehouse entrance is reportedly undergoing demolition starting TODAY (April 18).
While the 80-foot tree and treehouse will remain intact, the walk-through experience will no longer be catered to Tarzan’s story, and will get an entirely new character theme.
If you didn’t know, the treehouse originally opened in 1962 and was themed after the movie Swiss Family Robinson, and it still has Easter eggs to the original theme.
Some believe that an Encanto theme could be driving the refurbishment, as the animated film has been a big hit, and Antonio Madrigal has a magical rainforest treehouse in his bedroom. You can even buy an Antonio’s Treehouse play set on ShopDisney!
Encanto lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda previously told The Wrap that he told Disney CEO Bob Chapek that, “I know there’s a world in which this casita lives in a theme park and we get to actually walk through it in real life.”
If you forgot, this other Disneyland attraction is also going to be undergoing a big change with a new theme!
