The Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman is indicted on one count of rape and one count of kidnapping, both are first-degree felonies, stemming from an incident in December 2019.
AceShowbiz –Josh Sills has landed in serious legal trouble. The Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman has been indicted on one count of rape and one count of kidnapping in Ohio just days before his team heads to Super Bowl LVII.
On Wednesday, February 1, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden said in a news release that the 25-year-old football player was indicted on one count of rape and one count of kidnapping. Both charges are first-degree felonies.
The indictment stems from an incident in December 2019. According to the officials, Josh allegedly “engaged in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will.” The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation after the alleged crime was immediately reported.
The indictment comes days before the Eagles are set to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 12. Josh was issued a summons to appear in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court on February 16, four days after the Eagles are set to play in the Super Bowl.
In a statement, the Eagles said, “The organization is aware of the legal matter involving Josh Sills. We have been in communication with the league office and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time.”
Josh was a rookie in 2022 and he played in one regular season game. The athlete, who plays tackle and guard, joined the Eagles as an undrafted free agent. He spent his collegiate career at Oklahoma State. He was born in Sarahsville, Ohio.
Josh appeared in only four snaps on special teams for the Eagles in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. He’s listed as a backup right guard to Isaac Seumalo on the Eagles’ depth chart.
