Paige Deville announced yesterday that she had decided to quit Gogglebox and accused the Channel 4 show of not being supportive. In a new statement, the 25-year-old said there had been drama within her family which sparked her exit.

She said: “There have been problems within the family and my mum was given an ultimatum.

“The decision means I have nothing to do with her now.

“I think the decision is irreversible. It is very sad but that’s life unfortunately.”

Speaking to Birmingham Live, she added she was invited to work with another family member on the show, but declined.

Paige added: “My mum and myself had started the journey together and I wasn’t going to film with anyone else.”

The mother and daughter duo, from Birmingham, first joined in 2019.

They swiftly became fan favourites due to their hilarious reactions to shows and banter.

During one episode, Sally jokingly walked out the room as Paige set her up on Tinder.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, the reality star announced her departure.

She wrote: “I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox.

It’s been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, their NTA winners.”

Paige’s tweet came after the show won an National Television Award for Factual Entertainment Programme earlier this month.

In response to Paige’s comment, a show spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”

A tweet from Gogglebox’s fan page yesterday read: “Sad to hear @Paige_deville and her mum Sally are leaving Gogglebox.

“I love their sense of humour and witty comments! Good luck for the future.”

Paige replied: “Thank you.”
