The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly left Hollywood stars feeling less than pleased as they "enjoyed the benefits" of being royals during their New York City trip.

According to a source from Heat magazine, Meghan Markle, 40, and 37 year old Prince Harry appeared to be trying to position themselves above A-listers as they allegedly spent a good deal of time being filmed for upcoming projects with Netflix.

“There were a lot of raised eyebrows in New York, and in Hollywood, too," the insider told the publication. "A lot of people think that Meghan and Harry are trying to position themselves above most of their A-list peers.

"They seem to want to bask in their old royal status and enjoy all the attention and benefits that go with that, which is a turn-off for a lot of people."

The insider added that US citizens warm to British people who are "not arrogant or hypocritical" and the pair are "walking a fine line".

OK! Online has approached Meghan and Harry's representatives for further comment.

Meghan and Harry, who moved stateside last year, travelled from their £11 million pound mansion in Santa Barbara to attend the Global Citizen Live climate change gig in Central Park.

The annual music festival, aka ‘Wokestock’, pushes the "wealthiest nations" to help developing countries go green, with Billie Eilish and Jennifer Lopez topping the line-up.

However, after preaching tougher eco laws to the crowd, Harry and Meghan were labelled hypocrites after taking a gas-guzzling private jet home.

According to royal author Penny Junor, this is one of the things that has done their image no favours.

“This totally muddies the waters of their climate message. They are shooting themselves in the foot by taking private flights," she told The Sun.

Hours after pleading for more Covid-19 vaccines for struggling countries, the couple were spotted boarding a Dassault Falcon 2000 jet.

The one-way journey is thought to produce 17 tons of carbon emissions – that’s more than an average Brits’ annual footprint (12.7 tons) per year.

Penny added: “I do not understand why they are behaving as if they are superstars. His brother [Prince William] takes scheduled flights. I do think this is hypocrisy. I’m sure there were plenty of scheduled flights.”
