England captain Harry Kane took his team all the way to the final of the Euro 2020, but ultimately lost the title to Italy following a penalty shootout. It is the first time the squad has made it this far in a major football tournament since 1966, when they famously won the World Cup.

Harry’s wife Kate was in the stands at Wembley stadium to watch the historic match.

She proudly sported an England shirt with her husband’s name and number on the back for the occasion.

The fitness instructor teamed her top with a pair of blue denim jeans and wore a handbag across her body.

Following the game, which saw Harry score a goal when it went to penalties, the 27-year-old striker found his wife in the crowd.

He could be seen comforting his spouse who was snapped wiping tears away from her eyes following England’s defeat.

Harry, who wore a padded jacket over his kit, placed an arm around Kate and pulled her close for a sweet embrace.

Earlier in the day, the emotional mum-of-three revealed how proud she was of her husband of two years.

Kate wrote an open letter to her partner, which she later posted on Instagram.

“Dear H, we love you. Bring it home,” she captioned the post, in view of her 202,000 followers.

“H, you know I’m not one to cry too easily but I found myself in tears when I started writing down how proud you’re making us all and what you’re doing for the country.”

She went on to recall their early years of dating.

Kate wrote: “I used to laugh at you when we started going out and you’d be round mine playing penalties with my brother Tom and Seamus the dog, and you’d say you would be England captain one day.

“But that’s you – you set a goal and you achieve it and you always said you were going to the Euros to get to the final.

“You’re such an amazing husband and dad, and the children can’t wait to have you home.

“Imagine telling them about this summer one day when they are a bit older,” she added.

The couple are parents to three children – Ivy, four, Vivienne, two and six-month-old Louis.

Kate signed off: “We all love you so much Skipper. Bring it home for the country, you deserve to lift that trophy with his incredible England team!”

“Love you,” Harry replied in the comments section of her heartfelt post.

Following the match, the footballer said the loss was likely to “hurt for a while,” possibly even for the rest of his career.

However, he went on to say that the young team were hungry for more top level football and would hopefully learn from this experience.

They won’t have to wait long for another crack at a trophy, as the World Cup is set to take place next year.
