James Martin makes funny comment as he walks off set

This Morning’s resident chef James Martin, 48, has issued a heartfelt message to fans who had rushed to contact him after his Saturday Morning show aired on ITV today. The star apologised to viewers for responding to their comments later on in the day, as he admitted his phone had “gone mad” after being inundated with messages about a change he has made to the programme.

James posted a selfie from his famous kitchen alongside guest Charley Boorman in a behind-the-scenes insight.

The celebrity chef could be seen beaming for the camera alongside Charley, as they both put their thumbs up for the shot.

James explained many fans had reached out to him as they enjoyed a new segment on the ITV show.

The segment involves participation from viewers, where James gets to chat to fans from their homes on-air.

James penned in view of his 561,000 Instagram followers: “Wow, my phone’s gone mad! 

“Sorry a rare and welcome day at work today, so, so, glad you like the segment where we get to chat while you’re at home on the show. 

“The first one today has gone mad and loads of messages from my friends and you online.”

Fans will be delighted to know James has decided to continue with the segment after the overwhelmingly positive response it achieved.


He added: “I’m keeping it in and have done loads of the same calls this week… coming to a Saturday soon. 

“Thanks so much, it means a lot you like it!”

Fans took to the comments section of James post to share their thoughts on today’s exciting episode.

One person wrote: “It’s a really great addition chef. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I guess many others did too.”

During the episode, James welcomed Charley to talk about his new series Long Way Up, while Ryan and Liam Simpson-Trotman shared recipes for venison. 

The TV chef also headed to Devon to learn more about fishing mussels.

James also walked off his own show during the programme as he was left red-faced over a comment about a custard tart.

Reeling off what was yet to be shown, James said: “Still to come, I get a masterclass in cream.

“Lenny Carr-Roberts, my local pub landlord will be here with a custard tart.

“But don’t go anywhere because after the break I’m cooking crab rarebit for my guest Charley Boorman. I’ll see you in a bit.”

As the show went to cut to a break, James was seen walking off as he scolded himself over one of the comments he’d made.

“I don’t know why I said custard tart,” he exclaimed as he left his kitchen.
