Lacey Turner, 31, said goodbye to her beloved dog today, sharing the sad news with her 283,000 Instagram followers. Uploading a picture of the chocolate Labrador to her story, the EastEnders actress said: “My handsome boy! Cannot believe I’m writing this, I am heartbroken but so grateful that I got the pleasure of loving you for 11 whole years. You really were the bestest friend a girl could’ve asked for!”
Lacey also shared an adorable picture of her newborn baby daughter Dusty lying next to the dog, writing: “The best fur brother even if only for a short time.”
A third shot showed the baby sleeping peacefully, Rusty curled up next to the bassinet.
“I will tell her how you loved to lay next to her,” she said.
The EastEnders actress went on to say her family wouldn’t be the same without their beloved pet pooch.
Another photo saw the soap star walking Rusty on a lead while her husband Matt Kay pushed their newborn in a pram.
“Your cuddles are like no other, if you could hold you forever I would!” she penned. “My little family won’t be the same without you!
“Thank you for loving me for all those years. I love you always! Sleep tight handsome boy.”
The family tragedy comes just a month after Lacey and her husband celebrated the joy of welcoming a new addition into their family.
EastEnders star Lacey Turner gave birth to her first baby with Matt on July 12 after previously suffering two miscarriages.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, she said she felt “lucky’ to have had a short and “amazing” labour with her daughter Dusty.
“I had the loveliest midwife, too,” she told the publication.
The EastEnders favourite previously told the publication she and her husband had “dreamed” of having children.
“I can’t wait to nurture our baby,” she said. “We’ve dreamed of having a family for so long.”
Opening up on her miscarriages, she added: “It felt like my whole word had fallen to pieces and there’s nothing you can do apart from try and put it back together.”
Lacey and Matt wed in Ibiza in 2017.
The couple first met and fell in love as teenagers.
