Lorraine Kelly took to social media yesterday to reach out to an ITV colleague who has landed a new presenting gig. The 61-year-old TV star, who is currently enjoying a break from her self-titled morning show, wished former Good Morning Britain correspondent Katy Rickitt good luck in her new job.

Katy, who is the presenter wife of ex Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt, will front the news coverage for Yorkshire and Lincolnshire on ITV Calendar for the next six months.

She has worked for the television channel since 2008 and has been a regular fixture on GMB for many years.

Yesterday was Katy’s first official day in the ITV Calendar studio.

The news reporter posted a video on Twitter to mark the occasion.

Ahead of her stint in air, Katy tweeted: “The day has arrived!

“And actually made a decision for the first time in my life!”

“Off to go and get prepped on the news of the day!!” she signed off, before explaining that she’d already picked her outfit for her debut in an accompanying video.

“Good luck @KatyRickittITV – you will of course be brilliant xxxx,” Lorraine replied, while sharing the post with her 652,000 followers.

In the footage, the ITV star thanked her colleagues and fans for their support ahead of her debut.

“Just before I get started, I wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of your lovely messages over the weekend.

“It’s my first day on Calendar so I’m really looking forward to it,” Katy added.

“I did say I was going to post some dress options but I lied, because basically I kind of knew what I wanted to wear and for me that’s actually a miracle because I never make my mind up about anything.

“I’m very excited. So wish me luck and I’ll see you all at 6pm on Calendar,” the presenter continued.

Katy, who has swapped a 6am slot for a 6pm shift, said she would miss the GMB team but not the early morning wake-up calls when she announced her exit from the show.

Before going on air last night, she posted a picture on the micro-blogging from the ITV set.

She could be seen with her co-stars in a royal blue ensemble.

Katy returned to the site a short while later after realising that she was blinking in the social media snap that she’d uploaded.

“Thanks for all your messages guys just realised I put up the one pic of me blinking [laughing emoji].

“Busy day but loved every min,” she added.
