Love Island’s Laura Anderson ‘in shock’ after being slammed for calling Yewande Biala’s dancing ‘aggressive’

Love Island's Laura Anderson, 30, has said she is “in shock” after she faced criticism for calling Yewande Biala’s dancing “so aggressive” in an Instagram video.

The footage was posted on Belle Hassan’s Instagram story and was filmed at the Night Tales nightclub in Hackney, London, where celebrities and reality stars gathered to celebrate Ovie Soko’s ASOS clothing line launch on Monday 16 September.

In the video, Laura, who was in the 2018 version of Love Island, can be seen holding Yewande’s arm as she dances along to Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow.

The Scottish blonde then lets go of 23 year old Yewande’s arm as she continues to enjoy the song and dance. The camera then pans to Laura who can be seen saying “so aggressive” before taking a sip of her drink.

After the video was posted on 21 year old Belle’s Instagram story, Love Island fans criticised Laura for her behaviour.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Archaic Laura calling Yewande aggressive She looks like she’s just having fun to me!” [sic]

And another added: “Why is yewande around these people, she’s literally passionate about the song & having fun, ugh I hate ppl like that.” [sic]

While a third wrote: “I saw it and was like girl? The f**k? Can’t someone have fun anymore?” [sic]

The criticism then leaked on Laura’s Instagram page as Yewande fans flooded the comments section of a photo that Laura posted of herself at Ovie’s event.

One wrote: “How dare you call yewande aggressive for singing and dancing.”

Another added: “‘Aggressive’ grandma you should have just stayed at home.”

While a third questioned: “What did yewande do that was aggressive. Your at a club to enjoy yourself aren’t you.” [sic]

Laura then responded to the criticism by adding a comment to her post which read: “What the hellllll. Trolling on point. I was out with yewande aggressive dancing is like energetic Jesus why are we talking about race here. Baffled. I’m 30 lol #ageist.”

She then added: “I’m literally in shock. I don’t get what’s wrong with the one aggressive when dancing. Her fave song I think, she went in.” [sic]

Laura, Yewande and Belle were among a number of Love Island stars who supported Ovie on his big night. But, one person who was noticeably missing was Ovie’s girlfriend India Reynolds, 28.

This is because India was banned from attending the event due to her ties with rival clothing brand Boohoo.

A source exclusively told OK! online: “India's work with Boohoo means she isn't allowed to be seen supporting other brands, so wasn't allowed to go to Ovie's launch, even though she would have loved to have been there.”

But, the source also stressed that the couple were still very much together. They added: “Her and Ovie are more loved up than ever and she would have loved to have supported him on his big night.”

India did send her basketball star beau a message of support when she posted a photo go Ovie on a billboard to her Instagram story and wrote: “Congrats @oviesoko on your @asos launch,” with a heart emoji.

But, further doubt was cast over Ovie and India’s romance when a rumour began to circulate that the 6ft7” hunk kissed BBC Radio 1 presenter Maya Jama, 25, at a London night club.

Fans discussed the gossip over Twitter. One speculated: “Appazzzz…. Ovie and Maya Jama Lipsed.”

Referring to Ovie's basketball career, a second user cryptically wrote: “Heard Ovie's executives came down to London yesterday to start talks with a move to Maya Jama on a season long loan deal with the option to buy for 3 years.”

While another added: “Since I heard Ovie bagged maya, I been practicing my shots. Step back and the whole shabang.”

And a fourth joked: “Maya Jama & Ovie? She wanted bigger boots LOL.” [sic]

But other fans refuted the claims, and one pointed out they don’t even follow one another on Instagram.

One wrote: “OVIE AND MAYA WERE WHAT? I DEMAND RECEIPTS B***H.”

A representative for Maya exclusively denied the claims to OK! online and said: “They’ve never met so there’s no truth to this.”

Ovie and India began dating after meeting on Love Island earlier this year.
