Dancing on Ice: Jason Donovan discusses show with Lorraine
Jason Donovan, 52, has confided in Dancing On Ice 2021 host Phillip Schofield, 58, about his concerns before taking to the rink to compete in the ITV show. The programme requires celebrities to bravely learn how to perform several risky lifts and moves on the ice, which can be daunting for many who are part of the line-up.
Phillip, who co-presents the reality show with his This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby, 39, detailed the Australian actor’s fears in a new interview.
Addressing this year’s star-studded cast, Phillip said: “We’ve got an amazing line-up.
“I’ve already had a phone call with Jason Donovan who said, ‘Mate, do you think I’m going to be alright?’
“I said, ‘You’re going to be fantastic.’”

Although Jason has some experience with the dancing side of the show, after reaching the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2011, Phillip revealed he is worried about getting injured on the ice.
He continued: “He, like everyone, was pushed into doing the show by his kids.
“He’s frightened that he’s going to get broken, as is everyone, but that’s the nature of taking part in Dancing On Ice.
“There is nothing else like it,” Phillip insisted.
The This Morning favourite went on to tease the calibre of this series’ celebrity contestants.
He divulged to this week’s OK! Magazine: “I haven’t seen any of them skate.
“The word is that we’ve got the highest calibre of skaters that we’ve ever had.”
Elsewhere, Dancing On Ice’s judges Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill addressed an unfortunate accident which occurred with Rebekah Vardy’s pro partner Andy Buchanan.

During an interview earlier this week on The One Show, host Alex Jones probed: “We heard that Rebekah Vardy has already had a little bit of drama. Now, what happened there then, Christopher?”
“Well, it’s to be expected,” Christopher began. “Every series there’s always some drama (and) some injuries.”
He continued: “We dress up, we’ve got all these frocks on and it’s glamorous and there’s the music playing,
“But, at the end of the day, it’s also dangerous,” Christopher pointed out.
The Dancing On Ice favourite then explained exactly what happened between Rebekah and her partner Andy which led to him needing medical attention.
Christopher clarified: “One of the lifts that she was doing, she was coming out of a somersault and the heel of her blade went into Andy, her partner’s, cheek.”
The One Show host Amol Rajan winced in pain after hearing the gory story, alongside Alex, who also looked shocked.
“And so it was definitely a close call,” Christopher concluded before Amol weighed in: “If that had been closer to his eye, that could’ve been really dangerous.”
Luckily, Andy is on the mend and able to continue to participate with the contest.
Dancing On Ice 2021 premieres on ITV this evening at 6pm.
