Pregnant Molly-Mae Hague ‘mum shamed’ after fans notice ‘dangerous’ beauty habit

Heavily pregnant Molly-Mae Hague has been criticised for bleaching her hair.

Molly, 23, is due to give birth to her first child very soon, and ahead of her tot’s arrival headed to the hair salon to top up her blonde locks.

Sharing a snap to Instagram wearing an oversized khaki green sweatshirt while holding a Starbucks cup, the former Love Island star debuted her fresh tresses.

“Will I be blonde forever?” she asked her 6.8 million followers.

One person replied to her question: “Always wondered what you’d look like brunette can’t lie but I think blonde is YOUR colour”.

Another added: “so beautiful!! I’d love to see you as brunette but you suit being blonde,” as another person suggested she try go “golden blonde”.

Meanwhile, others questioned if expectant mothers should be bleaching their hair.

“Can’t believe you’ve been bleaching your hair while pregnant,” one of her followers wrote, as someone else asked: “Can u dye ur hair when pregnant?”

Echoing similar sentiments, another added: "Isn't it dangerous to bleach your hair when you're pregnant?"

Despite some people’s concerns, according to the NHS it is safe to dye your hair while pregnant as the chemicals in both permanent and semi-permanent colourings are not highly toxic.

“Most research, although limited, shows it's safe to colour your hair while pregnant,” the NHS website adds.

It goes on to advise that if you’re doing at-home colouring, you should wear gloves, leave the hair dye on for the minimum time, work in a well ventilated room and rinse your scalp once the dye is removed.

The NHS goes on to say that it’s also believed to be fine to dye your hair while breastfeeding too.

Molly has been documenting her pregnancy on both social media and YouTube, with the Love Island star again receiving some negative comments following one of her recent vlogs.

In the video she says: “I don't want to go on about it too much, the fact that I've had such an incredible smooth journey with my pregnancy because I know that's not the case for a lot of women through pregnancy.

"But the only way I can describe it is that I feel like my body was literally made to grow a child, I have never felt more natural."

Molly added: "I don't want to sound big headed but it's been so easy this journey that I feel that my body was ready to do this all along.

"It must have been like 'can I have a child to grow now', like it was always calling for this."

Many applauded Molly for sharing her positive pregnancy experience, while others said that the 23 year old was suggesting that those who have had a difficult pregnancy “aren’t built/made for it” like her.
