The Queen has "regretfully" decided to cancel the Royal Family's annual pre-Christmas party and lunch as Omicron fears continue to grow.
As cases continue to surge in the UK, Her Majesty reportedly feels that the “risk” is too high on the rest of the family’s plans over the Christmas period.
According to the Daily Mail’s Royal correspondent Rebecca English, the 95 year old monarch feels “regretful” over the decision.
“It could put too many people’s Christmas arrangements at risk if it went ahead,” Rebecca posted on Twitter.
“The decision is a precautionary one,” she continued. “The Queen is regretful, but feels it is the right thing to do.”
The monarch had been due to host the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and another 50 or more members of the Royal Family next Tuesday, December 21.
The annual lunch takes place at Windsor Castle.
