Rio Ferdinand has been torn apart from new wife Kate Wright just four days after they tied the knot .
The couple exchanged vows at the D Maris Bay hotel in Marmaris, Turkey on Friday with a no expense spared three day wedding party.
But the celebrations came to an abrupt halt on Tuesday night as Rio Ferdinand was forced to head back to the UK and back to work.
The BT sports pundit was in the studio with his colleagues for Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
While football was clearly on the agenda, Gary Lineker couldn't resist asking Rio about how he'd spent the last few days.
Turning to the retired footballer, Gary asked: "Rio shouldn’t you be on your honeymoon?"
But newly married Rio was having none of it and swiftly tried to change the subject.
"No, no, no, we will leave that to another time," replied Rio. "We have important things to do here in the studio," he added.
Gary then teased: "Football is always the priority, is that right?"
"Yes! And she knows that!" laughed Rio, referring to his new missus.
After a ten month engagement, Kate and Rio married in front of a select group of friends and family over the weekend.
The event had been shrouded in secrecy with guests even asked to hand in their phones on arrival at the ocean-side retreat.
But on Monday Kate and Rio broke their silence to share the first snaps from their stunning big day.
Kate looked stunning in a corseted fishtail gown that she revealed to OK! was made in just a week.
She explained: "I had been having a dress made since January but it all went wrong and it just wasn’t made right. A week before we flew to Turkey, I still didn’t have a dress. It was a total nightmare and I was stressed!'
"I had to have an entire new dress made by The Wedding Club and fitted within a week. In the end I adored my dress and preferred it to the original. Some things are meant to be."
Kate said that the first person to see her in the gown had been Rio's daughter Tia, who also acted as her Maid of Honour.
While her two stepsons Lorenz, 13, and Tate, 11, walked down the aisle in a very special moment that Rio said left him in tears.
