Sophie Ellis-Bextor cancels return to live dancefloor at Camp Bestival

It’s murder! Sophie Ellis-Bextor cancels her return to the live dancefloor at Camp Bestival after a pandemic-enforced hiatus

She was finally meant to celebrate her stage return this weekend after a pandemic-enforced hiatus.

But Sophie Ellis-Bextor might have to content herself with performing more of the kitchen discos she became known for in lockdown – as two of her children have Covid.

The singer, 42, has had to pull out of Camp Bestival in Dorset, Rock Oyster in Cornwall and Valley Fest in Bristol this weekend.

She shared an image on Instagram yesterday of her watching TV with her children and said she was ‘so sad’, adding: ‘This last year I’ve spent so much time dreaming of singing in front of a crowd again.’

Miss Ellis-Bextor, whose hits include Murder on the Dancefloor, said her little ones are ‘doing OK’. She has five children – Sonny, 17, Kit, 12, Ray, nine, Jesse, five and Mickey, two – with husband Richard Jones.

Camp Bestival was delayed yesterday after high winds swept in.
