Stacey Solomon, 31, has revealed she received a call from her sons’ school after she forgot to pick them up this afternoon. The Loose Women panellist’s eldest children from previous relationships, Zachary, 12, and Leighton, eight, returned to their classes this week after months of homeschooling due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Stacey admitted the change in the boys’ schooling arrangements sparked confusion for her, as she spent the afternoon looking after her and fiancé Joe Swash’s one-year-old son Rex in the garden.

The mum-of-three opened up on her mistake while she waited for Zachary and Leighton to join her in the car.

The star began by issuing a plea to fans to share their own mishaps with her regarding the first week back at school, as lockdown restrictions ease.

She exclaimed in an Instagram video in view of her 4.1million followers: “Someone out there please tell me you also forgot your kids today!

“I was just having it up in the garden with Rex thinking, ‘I wonder when them boys will finish their homeschooling and come out here’.(sic)

“And then the school rang and I was like, ‘Oh sugar, oh sugar, what have I done?’”

Fortunately, Stacey was able to see the funny side of her blunder, and joked that she was glad she at least remembered to take her sons to school when the rules changed.

She giggled: “Oh… well at least I didn’t forget to bring them in!

“One out of two’s not bad!”

Stacey then added in the caption of her post: “What is wrong with my brain?”

The Tap To Tidy author went on to update her fans on the situation, as she shared her relief that her sons were “smiling” despite her error.

Posting a selfie with Leighton posing in his school uniform in the car, she penned: “Thank goodness he’s smiling.”

Stacey then laughed at herself for being known for her cleaning and organising skills, while she wasn’t so organised with her responsibilities today.

She joked: “People: ‘How are you so organised?’

“Me: ‘I focus all of my energy on hanging my crisps up and completely forget about my kids’.”

Meanwhile, Stacey also revealed she used to run around after her two older boys before realising that it was making them lazy.

The former X Factor star said during a chat on Virgin Radio today: “I used to pack all of their school bags and iron all their clothes and put it out for them and make sure it was ready the next day, but it just made them so lazy.”

She added: “If I was going to work one day I would literally get phone calls from Joe saying ‘where’s the uniform? They don’t know where this is. They haven’t done that’ and it just didn’t serve a purpose.”

Explaining her U-turn on the matter, Stacey said: “In the end, I just thought – maybe about a year ago – they’re going to have to do it themselves and take the responsibility and if they forget their PE kit they’ll have to get the detention, that is life.”

“I don’t tidy the big boys rooms, I don’t go in there,” the star went on to admit.
