Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, 50, has taken the opportunity to bid a heartfelt farewell to the ITV show’s boss Erron Gordon after he announced today that he will be leaving the broadcaster at the end of this year. Amid her summer break from the programme, Susanna took to Twitter to thank Erron, who has held the position as series director of GMB for seven years, and has been with ITV for 13 years.

It comes after Erron confirmed his decision to leave the show in view of his 14,000 followers this morning.

He wrote: “Personal News. After 13 years at @ITV and 7 as the Series Director of @GMB I am leaving the programme at the end of the year to take on an exciting new challenge. 

“I’ve had an amazing time working with a brilliant team in front of and behind the camera and I am so proud of the programme I helped launch in 2014.

“I’ve had some incredible opportunities @ITV; launching @itvpeston, directing the prime time leaders debates, #LifeStories & exclusive interviews with @piersmorgan & President Trump as well as travelling the world. 

“Not forgetting somehow getting a part in Bridget Jones Baby!”

He concluded: “I’d like thank GMB Editor @NeilThompson62, Peston Editor Vicky Flind @flindv10 & ITV Daytime MD Emma Gormley for believing in me. 

“The formidable studio crews that make me look good each day and our fabulous on air team. I’m looking forward to the next chapter and a lie in!”

Susanna retweeted her colleague’s announcement and shared her gratitude after working with him over the years.

 

The star penned in view of her 828,000 followers: “Outstanding directors make presenting a pleasure – thank you for everything Erron.”

She then added in a separate post: “Our talented Director @errongordon is so good that when Renee Zellweger needed to cast a TV Director in Bridget Jones 3 she picked him.

“He’s been with @gmb since the start. He’s the best in the business. 

“Congratulations on your new job Erron – we’ll miss you.”

Susanna was joined by many of her fellow presenters in wishing Erron luck in his new role.

Lorraine Kelly took to Twitter and wrote: “You will be missed @errongordon – always a joy to work with you. 

“Good luck with your new adventure – they are lucky to have you xxx.”

BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker tweeted: “All the best Erron,” while India Willoughby added: “Congratulations Erron.”

It comes after Susanna revealed she would return to GMB early for a day to support Kate Garraway.

Kate thanked her co-star for filling in so that she can go on a break with her family for the first time without her husband Derek Draper, who is still recovering from his battle with Covid.

“She’s been really kind,” Kate said of Susanna on the show this morning. 

“I had a very tight window where everyone could come and look after Derek, take the kids away. Obviously he’ll have nurses as well.”
