Please cancel all your plans for March 7 (you know…in case you still make plans) because Oprah is sitting down with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for, drum roll plz, Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special.
Truly cannot wait, but at this point you’re probably wondering what the royal family thinks about Meghan and Harry giving an interview about their decision to step down as senior royals and move to the United States. Welp, according to a source they aren’t particularly thrilled.
The Mirror reports that the Palace was “blindsided” by the news of the Sussexes’ interview, and an insider says there is “a great deal of nervousness” and that “one only has to look at the previous installments of the tell-all interview to know these things never end up with a wholly positive experience for any party.” Oh, and apparently “everyone will be watching with intense interest.”
That said, Meghan and Harry are not required to tell the Palace about their personal plans! As a source tells Entertainment Tonight, “The Duke and Duchess are no longer working members of the royal family and therefore any decisions they take with regard to media commitments are matters for them. As non-working members of the royal family, they are under no obligation to inform the royal household of such plans.”
So…guess the royals have literally no reason to be upset! Bye!
You love all the deets on the royals. So do we. Let’s overanalyze them together. ✔️
