A California man who claims to be a “super fan” of Tom Petty says he has made an offer of $175,000 to buy the late singer’s childhood home in northeast Gainesville, Florida.
Real estate agent Kevin Beauchamp says he has put a down payment on the nearly 1,200-square-foot home where the “American Girl” singer spent his childhood.
Beauchamp said he intends to convert the building that still features original pink bathroom tiles into a public museum.
He added that he is working with Petty fan Joanne Davis and Jeff Goldstein, president of the Gainesville Music History Foundation, to realize his goal.
The rock legend’s home, built in 1952, is currently owned by Brandy Clark.
Petty died at the age of 66 in October 2017 after an accidental overdose.
