Celebrity Gogglebox star Woody Cook has revealed the touching moment he came out as bisexual to his mum Zoe Ball – and her confused reaction.
The son of former couple Zoe Ball and Fatboy “Norman Cook” Slim came out as bisexual publicly in 2019, but had previously explained his sexuality previously to his famous parents.
Woody told Attitude magazine: “My mum was, like, ‘You can’t be. You like girls.’ I said, ‘Er… yes, that’s what bisexual is.’
"She said, 'Isn’t bi just gay people before they know they’re gay? I don’t know any bisexuals.’ I pointed out that some of our family friends were probably bisexual, which she didn’t really think about before.”
In a wide-ranging interview Woody also hit back against trolls who have branded him 'fake bisexual'.
The Brighton-based aspiring DJ said: “I’ve had people say to me, ‘Oh, you’re just saying you’re bisexual because it’s trendy,’ and I’m, like, ‘No, my sexuality is not a bl***y trend!’”
Woody, who says he has both ADHD and dyslexia, has started his own record label combined with a social media channel, Truth Tribe.
He also regularly joins his radio DJ mum on the sofa to dissect the latest TV programmes on Celebrity Gogglebox, with the pair's close friendly relationship on show.
However despite their close bond, Woody is clear about the fact he needs to make his own way in the world – previously saying he no longer receives financial support from them.
Speaking at the Attitude Awards in October, Woody told The Mirror: "My parents make it clear that I was born into a privilege they have had to work their ass off to get.
"My parents have cut me off completely. They are like, 'Do you want to be a trust fund child, or do you want to work?' I want to work, so I am now self-sufficient. I don't have a student loan."
Woody's parents married in 1999 but divorced in 2016. The friendly exes are also parents to eleven year old daughter Nelly.
