WHETHER you scrunch or fold comes down to personal preference – but there's something else you should know about the golden formula for wiping.
That's right, we're talking toilet habits, specifically, toilet paper – andexactly how much is too much.
It's safe to say that some people are a little more, well, generous when it comes to the good ol' loo roll.
But wrapping it around your hand or pulling at the roll can lead to waste.
Then there's those who count out a precise number of sheets each and every time – which begs the question, how many sheets should you be using? .
Sanctuary Bathrooms has teamed up with hygiene and health experts to shed light on common bathroom mistakes and they finally revealed the answer to this burning question.
Martin Richards, Director of Hygienic Technology Experts at SMARTi Environmental, revealed: "If you’re using toilet roll efficiently, the average person should only need 10 sheets per visit to the loo.
"Obviously, this can depend widely on whether it’s a number one or number two, but essentially try not to wrap yarns of toilet roll round your hand to use as this can be a waste.”
Just to be clear, ten sheets should be the maximum number of sheets you use – so using less is completely fine, and probably encouraged.
And when it comes to flushing, Martin said to always close the lid so that germs don't escape the bowel.
"Each toilet could have up to 500,000 germs per surface inch," he said.

"When a toilet is flushed, droplets containing bacteria and viruses, such as E. coli, will become airborne, contaminating skin, clothing and multiple surfaces in the process.
"Sometimes you can even inhale them, so by keeping the seat down when flushing, these will then be trapped inside the toilet.”
