Kate, Princess of Wales and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex are devoted mothers and they are both famed for their thoughtful jewellery choices. Charlotte Leigh GIA AJP, Engagement Ring Specialist & Fine Jewellery Designer at Lottie Leigh Fine Jewellery, highlighted some of the personalised jewels Kate and Meghan wear to pay tribute to their children.

Kate’s adoration for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis is clear for all to see when she dons a special necklace with their initials.

Charlotte said: “The Princess of Wales was gifted a personalised gold charm necklace when Prince George was born.

“This has now been updated with the names of all three of her children.”

Kate’s sister-in-law Meghan also adores meaningful necklaces, and she sparked a fan frenzy when she opted for a cosmic-themed one during a video call last year.

While promoting her 40×40 initiative, Meghan wore two constellation necklaces representing the star signs of Archie and Lilibet.

Charlotte explained: “The Duchess of Sussex, who is known to express herself through her jewellery, owns several personalised pieces honouring her children.

“Before the birth of her daughter Lilibet, Meghan was seen wearing initial necklaces with both Prince Harry and Archies initials. Initial jewellery has become increasingly popular and is what inspired my gold and diamond ‘Initial Collection’.

“Also, more recently, Meghan has been wearing constellation necklaces for both her children, a Taurus for Archie and a Gemini for Lilibet.”

A ring from the Duchess of Sussex’s jewellery collection is also thought to include hidden tributes to Archie and Lilibet.

After the birth of her first child, Meghan was pictured wearing a third band on her ring finger adorned with diamonds.

The eternity ring was reportedly a gift from Prince Harry to mark their first year of marriage.

And according to Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the eternity band included some hidden gems.

On the underside of the ring sits the birthstones of Harry, Meghan and Archie – a sapphire, emerald and peridot.

According to Steven Stone, Meghan’s birthstone peridot “is believed to help with ‘asthma, sinuses, and alleviating illness in the eye, stomach, thyroid and liver’.”

They added: “Emerald is Harry’s birthstone and is believed to ‘help lift mood, cure insomnia, and detoxify the blood’.

“Meghan and Harry’s son Archie’s birthstone, sapphire, meanwhile, ‘strengthens you to deal with anxiety, stress, depression and insomnia’.”

Since baby Lilibet’s birth in June 2021, it is likely the ring now includes her birthstone – Alexandrite.

Touchingly, Kate also wears an eternity ring with sweet links to her firstborn.

Her thin diamond sparkler was thought to have been gifted to her by Prince William to mark the birth of their first child George in 2013.

She wears it alongside her 12-carat sapphire engagement ring that belonged to Princess Diana and her Welsh gold wedding band.
