Is Deliveroo still delivering?

With many restaurants, fast food stores and takeaways having to close their doors to customers – delivery is one way to get indulgent food.

Deliveroo is still delivering to customers across the UK, and has now introduced contactless delivery for customers.

This means your Deliveroo driver will drop off your order in a safe spot like inside your porch or on your doorstep for you to pick up.

Given the new social distancing guidelines from the Government, contactless delivery minimises the contact drivers have with customers.

Food delivery services like JustEat and UberEats are also offering contactless delivery for their customers.

Deliveroo has also introduced a service whereby customers can order items from Marks & Spencer, to ensure they get the essentials they need.

Products on offer include milk, bread, pizza and even ready meals.

In an email to customers on March 21, Deliveroo said: “This is a hugely uncertain time for everyone, things are going to be very different for all of us in the days and weeks ahead and things are going to be very tough for the restaurant industry.

“These amazing, inspiring businesses will continue to be available for takeaway.

“We want to provide an update on our service during this period of uncertainty.

“You can continue to support your favourite local restaurants throughout this period – ordering from high street heroes or your most loved brands, and supporting their teams in the process. We’re still here to deliver.

“We’re focused on ensuring safety across our platform. You will now receive your order contact-free, so your rider will leave your order at your door.

“You can also search the app to filter by FSA hygiene rating, because we understand you care about safety.

“As Key Workers – delivering an essential public service – getting food to millions of people, our riders are helping to support communities right across the UK. And they are here to deliver. “
