A food recall is issued when a product is known to be faulty. Lidl GB has shared a warning for products sold in various stores in the UK.
Birchwood XXL Pork Mince (12 percent fat)
The meat product was recalled by the discount supermarket chain as it may be unsafe to eat.
The retailer explained some packs could have pieces of plastic present.
A Lidl statement said: “Lidl GB is recalling the above mentioned product due to the potential presence of small pieces of plastic in the product.”
The affected packs are one kilogram with the Use By date of February 13, 2021.
Those who have the meat product in question are urged not to eat it and can instead return to the retailer for a refund.
The statement continued: “If you have bought the above mentioned product with the affected Use By date, we advise you not to eat this.
“Instead, return it to a Lidl GB store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.”
Customers can also return the item by emailing [email protected] and including a photo of the pack with the Use By date visible.
The refund will then be processed by the Customer Service team via letter.
The product recall is specific to packs of Birchwood XXL Pork Mince sold in England, Wales and Scotland only.
No other Use By dates of the product, or any other Birchwood items, are known to be affected.
The discount supermarket added: “Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“Any customers with queries or concerns can contact Customer Services on 0370 444 1234.”
Food recall warnings should be taken seriously when they are issued by retailers.
Asda, Morrisons and Iceland recently shared a warning on a Nestlé product sold in stores.
The NÉSTLE MILKYBAR Little Treats were voluntarily recalled due to an “unpleasant salty taste”.
The packs are 330 grams, 6x55g, with the Use dates of February 13, 2021 and February 14, 2021.
They can be returned to the manufacturer via mail.
A statement said: “As a precautionary measure, Lactalis Nestlé Chilled Dairy UK is voluntarily recalling the above product with the specific use by date 13/02 and 14/02 due to a strong unpleasant salty taste caused by an ingredient which is part of the normal composition but that has been overdosed in the production of these batches.
