Tesco outline their latest shopping measures ahead of lockdown

Tesco and Waitrose customers have gone mad over the new frozen dessert that was launched last year, causing it to sell out in many supermarkets. The £4.50 sweet treat has been branded as ‘insane’ leaving fans ‘obsessed’.

Little Moons launched into the likes of Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado last year with 12 different flavours to choose from.

The bite sized Japanese treat comprises of creamy gelato ice cream in a layer of mochi dough that has a soft and chewy texture.

Flavours include coconut, passionfruit, Belgian chocolate and pistachio.

Fans can also pick between mango, green tea and salted caramel.

In the last week, they have been spoken about across social media platforms, becoming a sell-out in many food stores.

Tesco has seen a whopping 700 percent increase in sales on the sweet treat while Waitrose has seen a 350 percent uplift in the last two days.

With them being a complete sell-out across many supermarkets, Deliveroo has now started stocking them in certain locations across the country.

Some fans took to Twitter to explain that they couldn’t find their favourite treat anywhere.

One person wrote: “These are insane and my favourite low cal snack, however I can’t find them anywhere.”

Another said: “I just wanna go to the big Tesco and pick up some more Little Moons, we’re obsessed.”

“Omg I need to try these Little Moons that I’ve been seeing everywhere, they look so nice,” a third Tweeted.

A couple of the flavours are currently out of stock on Tesco and Waitrose website but fans have had luck in local smaller stores.

Social media influencers have also been promoting the sweet treat on the likes of TikTok.

One TikTok influencer gained 400,000 views on her video within two days, receiving more than 3,000 comments.

The Little Moons hashtag now has over 50 million views on the platform.

Co-founder of Little Moons, Howard Wong said: “The Little Moons TikTok craze started with some creators, perhaps suffering from a bit of lockdown fatigue, filming themselves going on an adventure to ‘big Tesco’ in search of our mochi ice cream.  

“And the novelty of that, combined with just how delicious Little Moons are resulted in thousands of people doing the same.

“It’s been incredible to watch this go viral and seeing how much people are loving Little Moons. 

“Our sales have gone up exponentially and we’re seeing empty shelves across all of our retailers which we’re rushing to re-stock so we don’t disappoint people trying to get their hands on their Little Moons.”

In other food news, Cadbury recently released new chocolate food products.

Cadbury recently launched a giant Mini Eggs Easter Egg.

The hollow chocolate egg has mini egg pieces running through the shell.

It retails for £12 for 507g and also includes one bag of Mini Eggs.
