Big news ahead of Veganuary: finally, vegans can jump on the absolute joy of a Krispy Kreme doughnut.
That’s right, plant-based pals. Krispy Kreme is finally doing a vegan version of their original glazed doughnut, which they’ve creatively called the Original Glazed Vegan Doughnut. Catchy.
As the name suggests, it’s supposed to taste exactly like the original, with the same light, fluffy texture and signature sticky glaze, but with no animal products.
Krispy Kreme say they’re launching the new product to celebrate Veganuary, but obviously it’ll be great for everyone, not just those going plant-based for the month.
You’ll be able to pre-order a dozen box from December 21 onwards, then you can get the doughnuts delivered around the UK from January 5, 2021.
A vegan dozen is priced at £10.45 – the same price as the originals, so you don’t have to pay that common fee that’s often tacked on to anything plant-based.
This isn’t the first vegan doughnut by any means (have you tried Doughnut Time? They’re delicious), but it is the first one from mega brand Krispy Kreme, meaning they’ll be far easier to get hold of than your usual boutique option.
Louise Direito, Krispy Kreme UK and Ireland’s Head of Innovation, said:
‘We are excited to extend our range of iconic irresistibly original doughnuts with the launch of our first ever Vegan offering, available exclusively in the UK.
‘We know January is a time that many are trying out new lifestyles and set ourselves the challenge to create a plant based doughnut that is equally delicious as the original, with absolutely no compromise.’
Sounds good to us.
