Aldi: Supermarket makes changes at checkouts in all UK stores – latest rules

Supermarkets have shopping rules that should be followed to keep customers safe. Aldi has shared the latest update to wearing face masks in stores.

Wearing a face covering became mandatory in shops last year across the UK.

Those visiting supermarket branches have had to wear a face covering when inside.

This applies to everyone, apart from young children and those with a medical exemption.

Aldi has updated its face mask rules to include those who work in stores.

All colleagues must wear a face covering when inside stores, unless they have a medical exemption.

Aldi staff who work on the shop floor were already required to wear face coverings.

However, this has now been extended to those behind the checkouts.

A statement from the retailer said: “Our store colleagues must wear a face covering at all times, including when working on a till behind a screen, unless they have a medical exemption.”

The safety precaution is in addition to perspex screens at checkouts.

Wearing a face mask when in stores was already a rule for customers.

“To ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues, it is mandatory for all customers (with certain exceptions) shopping in our stores to wear a face covering for the duration of their visit,” a statement explained.

“Those who refuse to wear a face covering, without medical exemption, will not be allowed in store. We thank you for your cooperation.”

Like many supermarket chains, Aldi has updated stores to make them safer for shoppers.

Trolley and basket cleaning stations have been introduced and are available at the entrance of stores.

The supermarkets also have floor markings in place to encourage shoppers to socially distance.

There are also limits on how many people can enter a store at one time, enforced by a traffic light system.

This can help avoid overcrowding and manage the flow of customers entering and leaving branches.

Customers are also encouraged to shop alone where possible and only buy what they need.

The Aldi website states: “Buy only what you need – our stores are being replenished everyday.”
