Couple transform basketball court into their dream wedding venue

Breanna and Chris Arneson were forced to take matters into their own hands when their dream wedding venue became unavailable, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Washington-based couple got engaged in December 2019, after just six months of dating.

Originally the couple had planned to get married at a 400-person wedding in July 2020. But when their plans fell through, Breanna wasn’t keen for the wedding to be delayed until 2021.

Thankfully, the couple’s pastor had joked that they could get married in her backyard, in a basketball court, and the couple saw this offer as an excellent opportunity.

Not to mention it was fitting, considering the pair met at church.

The court was pretty much a blank canvas for Breanna and Chris, so they could transform it into whatever wedding venue they wanted.

After recruiting the help of their parents and friends, they turned the court into a stunning outdoor area. The family painted the walls white and used white vinyl flooring to transform the ground into a neutral, bright space.

They also used decorative flowers which helped to reinforce the walls and drapes were added to help section off the rest of the yard.

It’s safe to say the impressive finished product looks like an entirely different venue.

For the ceremony itself the space was filled with chairs facing the front and then tables were added for the seated reception dinner – with a long table at the edge for the bridal party to look onto the rest of the guests.

Photos captured by Alex Lasota – Breanna’s dream wedding photographer – show the happy couple enjoying the space they created on their special day.
