Cracks are appearing in my relationship – should I leave my girlfriend?

DEAR DEIDRE: CRACKS are appearing in my relationship with my girlfriend but I don’t know whether to leave her.

We have been dating for four years. I’m 23 and she is 22. Just before my grandad passed away last year, my girlfriend had a huge bust-up with my dad. She still won’t speak to him and never wants to be involved in any family events.

I try to make things better but we always end up rowing. It’s no longer just about my dad. I do lots for her but she never thanks me and I feel unappreciated.

I feel our relationship is coming to an end but it would feel odd not having her in my life.

DEIDRE SAYS: When you spend more time unhappy than happy with someone, it is time to admit the relationship has run its course.

Your girlfriend doesn’t sound right for you but she is a habit in your life.

It will take a while to adjust to being single again but relationships begun in your teens often don’t last for the long-haul simply because you both change and need to move on.

My e-leaflet Ending A Relationship will help you.
