Many millions of viewers may have tuned in for the series finale of “Game of Thrones” on Sunday night, but fans familiar with the cast’s body art may have figured out the show’s ending a whole year ago.
Back in June 2018, Sophie Turner — who plays Sansa Stark on the hit HBO show — debuted a new tattoo depicting the House Stark direwolf sigil along with the words, “The pack survives.”
Fans swiftly began speculating that Turner’s ink was a Season 8 spoiler indicating that all of the remaining Stark family members (Sansa, Arya, Bran and Jon Snow) would make it to the series’ end alive, but the star shut down that theory during an appearance on “The Late Late Show With James Corden.”
“Yeah, actually while I was getting it done, people advised me not to because it looked like I was giving everything away, but I wasn’t,” she explained at the time. “It’s just a quote from last season. But everyone figures the pack really does survive, but it’s just a moral that I like to live by.”
As fans discovered during the finale, however, the remaining Starks do indeed survive, with Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) assuming the throne, Sansa being crowned Queen of the North, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) rejoining the Night’s Watch and Arya (Maisie Williams) setting off on a journey west of Westeros.
Turner is far from the only “Game of Thrones” cast member to honor her time on the show with a tattoo, but Emilia Clarke’s tribute to her role as Daenerys “Mother of Dragons” Targaryen and Williams’ “No One” ink weren’t quite so on the nose.
