Gold Rush: Rapper Dan Sur Replaces Hair With Surgically Implanted Gold Chains

Mexican musician Dan Sur has claimed to be the first rapper to implant gold chain hooks into his scalp to create the appearance of gold hair. The Reggaeton rapper and producer has taken to his Instagram and TikTok accounts to flaunt his numerous gold chains, which have replaced his natural hair, revealing what is likely the most expensive hairstyle around.

Sur isn’t the first artist to take extreme steps to stand out from the crowd. Earlier this year, Lil Uzi Vert got a pink diamond implanted into his forehead, which he claimed was ripped out recently while crowd-surfing at a music festival. In July, Brazil-based rapper Renato de Santa got flesh removed so he could get a “demon smile” carved into his face, according to the New York Post.

In a recent TikTok video, Sur boasted to his 1.9 million followers that he’s the first human in history to rock an assortment of gold chains as hair.

“This is my hair. Golden hair. The first rapper to have gold hair implanted in human history.”

The rapper chose the garish look to stand out from the crowd, revealing in another viral clip that he hopes nobody will try to lift his style.

“The truth is that I wanted to do something different because I see that everyone dyes their hair. I hope not everyone copies me now.”

LADBible reported that the 23-year-old underwent the unique surgical process in April earlier this year. Sur hasn’t revealed how much the surgery cost, but it doesn’t look cheap as some of the gold chains flowing from Sur’s scalp were encrusted with diamonds.

“I have it as a hook that is implanted in my head and that hook has hooks and they are all hooked in my skull, under my skin, this is my hair. Golden hair,” he revealed of the procedure.

On September 6, Sur released the music video for the single, ‘Oro,’ sporting the gold dreads. Watch it below.

Sur decided to pair his new gold chained hair with a matching gold grill, as many rappers do. His latest TikTok shows him brushing his grill with toothpaste after one fan asked as to how he kept it clean. Sur hasn’t commented on how he plans to keep his gold hair clean.
