Earlier this month Grimes gave birth to a baby boy with billionaire Tesla founder Elon Musk.
However, what really shocked the world was the very unusual name that they chose for the infant.
The happy couple decided to name their child X Æ A-12. Yep, the difficult to pronounce, or even read, name was confirmed when the billionaire tweeted: "Mom & baby all good."

The 31 year old new mother then tweeted to explain the name: "X, the unknown variable. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence). A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favourite aircraft). No weapons, no defences, just speed. Great in battle, but not violent. A=Archangel, my favourite song. Metal rat."
Elon replied to her tweet, correcting the exact formal name of the Archangel aircraft was in fact an S-71 to which she hit back with: "I am recovering from surgery and barely alive so may my typos b forgiven but, damnit. That was meant to be profound. [sic] "
But as it turned out, the name of their child is actually illegal under Californian law.
A supervisor at the Department of Public Health Vital Records Office in Los Angeles has confirmed to TMZ that it is illegal to include symbols and numbers in names of birth certificates in the state of California, where Grimes gave birth.

As a result it has now been changed to X AE A-Xii for the birth certificate, which was obtained by The Blast.
The Miss Anthropocene artist responded to the name change by writing: “Roman numerals. Looks better tbh.”
Additionally Grimes, who is set to sell her soul for $10 million at her online art exhibition, has revealed her nickname for the baby boy.
Speaking to Bloomberg she revealed that she calls her son "Little X for short".
As for pronunciation of the name itself, publicly there has been some discrepancy in how to say it.
The 32-year-old singer clarified that the child’s name is pronounced: "Ex Ash A Twelve."
Whereas Elon said on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast that it was "Ex Ash Archangel Twelve".
