Sony Pictures’ Morbius finally released in theaters, but reviews have not been kind. However, some fans put very little stock in what critics say about superhero movies. If you’re ready to see the Spider-Man villain spinoff from Sony Pictures, here’s what you need to know about how many Morbius end-credits scenes there are in the Jared Leto movie.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers for ‘Morbius’
How many end-credits scenes does ‘Morbius’ have?
Morbius features two scenes after the end credits roll. They’re both connected, sequential, and tease more connections to the wider Spider-Man universe, namely the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
However, the Morbius end-credits scenes bring up more questions than answers. Based on trailer Easter eggs, fans theorized that Morbius could have connections to the Andrew Garfield Amazing Spider-Man movies.
The Morbius post-credits scenes tie it closer to the Tom Holland Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, many pointed out that they somewhat ignore the logic of Doctor Strange’s memory spell.
What is the mid-credits scene about?
The first Morbius end-credits scene features the purple rift, seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, over Manhatten. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) tries to stop the multiverse from breaking in the MCU movie. The rift in Morbius further establishes that Michael Morbius, Venom, Carnage, and the Sony Universe exist parallel to the MCU.
Instead of Morbius stepping into the MCU, Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton), aka the Vulture, steps through into an empty jail cell. The arrival makes headlines, and then a reporter notes that he will likely be released.
A video from New Rockstars suggests that originally, this may have been where the Morbius trailers showed Keaton hinting at Morbius teaming up, likely in a Sinister Six film.
However, since those scenes were cut from the final film, the second Morbius post-credits scene teases features a hint at future team-ups.
What is the second ‘Morbius’ end-credits scene about?
The second Morbius post-credits scene picks up right where the other left off.
Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius drives to a remote location and then hears the wind pick up. Suddenly Adrian Toomes appear in his Vulture suit from Spider-Man: Homecoming, but slightly altered.
He tells Morbius they should form a team, alluding to the long-planned Sinister Six movie Sony has tried planning for years.
While the Morbius end-credits scenes make little sense as to how Adrian Toomes ended up in the Sony Universe, the end-credits at least tease the possibility of seeing a bigger Spider-Man villain team-up movie.
