Royal Mail has recently been dealing with delays due to an increase in demand and difficult weather conditions. It has shared 13 postcodes which may notice delays in their delivery service.
This year, Royal Mail has dealt with an increase in demand as more people turn to sending parcels during the coronavirus lockdown.
With non-essential retail stores still closed, many Britons are also relying on online shopping.
This has caused an increase in parcels for delivery services such as Royal Mail and the postal service has kept customers up-to-date on its website.
It has shared an update for those hoping to send and receive parcels ahead of the weekend.
Royal Mail explained most services in the UK are running as normal.
A post on its website stated: “We’re delivering and collecting mail in all parts of the UK today.
“However, deliveries may be disrupted in some areas due to resourcing issues at some of our delivery offices.”
The postal service has been dealing with resourcing delays in some parts of the UK for many weeks.
This is a result of colleagues following safety measures and self-isolating where necessary.
The issues are continuing in a small number of areas which could cause some delays.
“Due to resourcing issues, associated self-isolation and safety measures, deliveries in the following areas are likely to be disrupted this week,” the statement continued.
“In those areas that are temporarily affected by very high levels of absence, customers can expect deliveries at least every other day.
“It will only be in extreme cases when this may not be possible, but these are the exception and are listed below.”
The postal service explained 13 postcodes in the UK could have to wait up to a day longer for deliveries.
Royal Mail offered an apology for the delays and stated it would continue to prioritise Britons receiving vaccination letters.
It added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
“We’re working hard to deliver as comprehensive a service as possible with the resources available to support these offices. And we’re ensuring we prioritise delivery of vaccination letters.”
