Deadpool to the rescue.
Actor Ryan Reynolds and other celebs are helping a crestfallen Vancouver woman recover a stolen teddy bear that contained an audio recording from her late mother saying “I love you, I’m proud of you, I’ll always be with you.”
“Vancouver: $5,000 to anyone who returns this bear,” tweeted the kind-hearted “Deadpool” star, 43, Saturday in response to a CBC journalist’s notice about the missing memento. “Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to come home.”
The “Van Wilder” actor’s Twitter “Ted” talk currently has more than 93,000 retweets and 324,000 likes as of Monday morning.
Mara Soriano, 28, had a backpack containing the Build-A-Bear product pilfered while she and her fiancé were moving apartments Friday, reports CBC. The bag also contained a book of blank checks, Soriano’s citizenship card, her and her future husband’s passports and social insurance cards along with an iPad and a Nintendo Switch.
However, the stuffed animal had special sentimental value as it was custom-fitted with a moving voice message from her mother, who had passed away from cancer in June 2019 at age 53.
The voice recording says “I love you I’m proud of you, I’ll always be with you,” according to Soriano, who told CBC she is “devastated” by the cuddly keepsake’s loss. The Vancouver Police posted a Tweet on Saturday urging the public to return it.
Hollywood also rallied around the distraught woman in her time of need.
Along with Reynolds, Soriano’s star-studded search party included “Schitt’s Creek” actor and fellow Canuck Dan Levy, 36, who tweeted, “Canada, please help find this bear.”
“Scrubs” star Zach Braff, 45, also shared Reynolds’ Tweet with the message, “I NEED THIS BEAR TO COME HOME!!!!!!”
It’s unclear if the Tinseltown Tweetstorm helped uncover any leads. However, Soriano tweeted Sunday that restaurant employees in Vancouver have since provided her with security camera footage that could reveal the identity of the thief.
“I just really want to find my bear,” she says. “That’s all that I care about.”
