A TikTok user says she spent six weeks in hospital in France and doctors had to create a special antibiotic because she got in a hot tub after getting her ear pierced.
In the clip, 21-year-old wildlife photographer Caitlyn Earwaker @caitswildlifephotog recalls getting her new rook cartilage piercing and being really excited about it, sharing a selfie of the jewelry.
But she later got a nasty infection after enjoying a dip in a hot tub – with images showing redness and swelling.
Unfortunately, Caitlyn says doctors in England prescribed her an antibiotic that didn't work so when she flew to France it was still infected.
Pictures show the redness starting to spread and the area beginning to bulge with inflammation.
She then went to A&E in France and was put on a drip and given gas and air for the pain while infectious disease specialists tried to work out what was going on in her ear.
In the end, Caitlyn says she was told she was having a six-week hospital stay and doctors were going to have to make a special antibiotic to treat the infection because it was resistant to the other ones.
The horrifying video has been watched more than 19 million times and it was enough to put people off getting any more piercings themselves.
"Yuh I don’t want that piercing no more," joked one.

Other people said it was impressive she got so sick doctors had to make new medicine for her.
A viewer quipped: "Honestly, it’s a flex to be in France with doctors making your own antibiotics."
"OK, but how famous do you feel that you have your own antibiotic?" asked another person.
Warning against wet piercings, someone else commented: "Listen to your piercer. We tell you not to swim and submerge your new piercings for this reason."
