Regatta 2-Man Pop Up Print Festival Tent

RATING: 3/5

The pattern on this makes it easy to spot in a festival field. Pretty and practical — it takes seconds to go from flat to full tent and has a useful mesh window at the front, through which you can watch unfortunate festival-goers try to locate their beds.

Goes down like a dream, though it takes practice to twist into a disc shape and fit into the neat canvas bag. Zip up thoroughly to avoid leaks.

Summit 2 Person Pop Up Tent

RATING: 3/5

As light as a feather to carry to your fest-ination, this two-person tent is waterproof and fire retardant, with high-vis guy ropes and tent pegs. Whisks up in a blink.

A bit flimsy feeling but great for a night out(side). Goes down via the once-learned, never forgotten twisting technique into a small disc.

Vango Skye II 400 Air Tent

RATING: 4/5

This tent pitches itself as being a cut above. Inflate the three ‘poles’ into three firm arcs that support the canvas.

Contains a pump and valve for simple inflation, clear windows and two rooms — an outer and an inner tent.

I quickly attach the pump to the three valves. So it’s great to put up, and super-easy tofold down.

Coleman FastPitch Galiano 4 Pop-Up Tent, 4-Berth

RATING: 3/5

We foolishly give this a go in the kitchen, which instantly fills with canvas and terrifies the dogs.

Opens in seconds and pitches outside within a minute — with nice, secure guy ropes. I’d say it’s for four smaller people. It needs fastening securely at night and putting it down takes quite long.

Halfords two Person Pop Up Tent — Blue

RATING: 3/5

More flimsy, but an excellent price. Pops up swiftly and fits two teens and all their kit.

I put it down almost as fast as we get it up — by far the easiest because of the small size. This wasn’t felt to be the most waterproof but this might be because we didn’t secure the ropes or zips properly.

Quechua camping tent — two seconds — two person

RATING: 5/5

A black-out tent that I instantly peg as my own. One of the issues with camping is the bright light of morning interrupting any sleep you may have achieved.

This unfurls within seconds, and inside the half-dome there is space for two people to lie comfortably side by side.
