Madonna kicks off 2020 on £3,136-a-night Maldives holiday with her family

Madonna and her family have kicked off the new decade in style on a lavish £3,136-a-night holiday in the Maldives.

The music icon and her children jet-setted off to the luxurious Vakkaru Maldives resort, also joined by her beau Ahlamalik Williams.

It's no surprise that the glamorous resort was on the singer's radar.

It has everything you could want for a dreamy winter sun getaway, surrounded by picture-perfect white sands, crystalline waters.

The resort itself boasts five restaurants, two bars, a wine cellar, a library, and even a lagoon bar with outdoor seating above the turquoise waters.

Madonna opted for a stay in the island's swish Beach Pool Retreat where prices start from $2,265 (approx £1,735) a night.

The opulent suite has heaps of perks including a private beachfront terrace, a 32m squared private pool, a kitchen pantry, its own living room, and extra double beds with direct views of the beach and landscape.

Her family stayed in suites which proved just as swish, including the Over Water Family Pool Villa where prices start from $1,829 (approx £1,401) a night.

The villa includes direct access to the crystal clear lagoon waters, a 24 sq m private infinity pool, a private over water terrace with a hammock and sunbeds, and even an outdoor shower.

Madonna took to Instagram to share a sneak peek at her holiday as she and her family enjoyed a fun day out on a yacht trip, jumping into the waters and trying their hand at watersports.

There was no doubt plenty of adventure to be had during their trip.

The resort offers a wide array of watersports, a games room, and a host of excursions for intrepid explorers. There are also plenty of bespoke experiences on offer, such as having a private dinner on the beach.

Alternatively, for guests who want a bit of pampering, there's a luxurious spa complete with treatment rooms overlooking the water, a yoga deck, and amenities including a sauna, steam room, plunge pools and outdoor hot tubs.

Not bad.

There are plenty of celebrities who holiday in the Maldives; after all, it's a destination renowned for glorious weather, beautiful beaches and some incredible resorts.
