New £100m indoor waterpark with pools, slides and wellbeing centre plans to open in Scotland

A HUGE new indoor waterpark is planning to open in Scotland, with swimming pools, slides, and thermal spas.

It will be the second one to open in the UK, with a Therme waterpark opening in Manchester in the next few years.

The new attraction has revealed plans to open in central Glasgow next to the Riverside Museum, costing £100m.

This will include a huge indoor waterpark, thermal pools and spas, botanical gardens and a health and wellbeing centre.

Also in the 320,000sqft attraction will be a vertical farm to grow their own food.

Therme Group CEO Stelian Iacob said: "Therme Scotland will create a fun and accessible experience with profound health and wellbeing benefits for all.

"We look forward to engaging with the Glasgow community as we progress with the design and development of Therme Scotland”.

The planning application for the site will be submitted next year.

The £250m Therme Manchester will be opening in 2024, the first in the UK.

The 28-acre site, the size of 19 football pitches, will have a family zone with25 swimming pools, including a wave pool, as well as more than 35 water slides and water fitness classes.

Guests will also be able to relax in the palm tree relaxation area, or the two-acre "well-being garden" shaped like a rose with bio-diverse plants and water features.

Adults can enjoy time away from kids with a no-child section, which will have water lagoons, mineral bars, swim up bars, and 30 steam rooms and saunas.

A £75m water park inspired by Indiana Jones could also be opening in the UK soon, while in Germany, a water park called Tropical Islands is open all year round with balmy temperatures and warm pools.

We've rounded up the best water parks in the world too.
